However, quell the rising purchase panic and step away not just from the credit card, but from buy-now-pay-later services, with which one-in-five Aussies are likely to fund this year’s festivities.

Sharing the costs of providing Christmas dinner can save you cash and remove preparation stress. 

The survey that’s the source of that stat, by consumer education website CreditSmart, also reveals 4 percent of people haven't even repaid last year’s Christmas credit-card spend.
